Madinah: The third edition of the Umrah and Ziyarah Forum, on its closing day in Madinah, hosted discussions aimed at enhancing the pilgrim experience through innovation and knowledge-sharing.

According to Saudi Press Agency, panels on the main stage on Wednesday addressed a wide range of topics, including the use of digital technologies, destination development, and enhanced health preparedness, all aimed at strengthening the Umrah and Ziyarah ecosystem and elevating the pilgrims' experience.

Sessions examined the documentation of sites linked to the Prophet's biography, drawing on hadith, historical records, geographical references, and literary sources. Experts emphasized the importance of these sources in building accurate and reliable knowledge.

A session titled 'Geographical and Cartographic Dimensions in Identifying Sites of the Prophetic Biography' explored how maps and spatial analysis can contribute to precise site identification.

Another session, 'Digital Technologies in Documenting and Presenting Sites Related to the Prophetic Biography,' highlighted the role of modern tools in showcasing historical sites interactively, thereby enriching the visitor experience.

On the development and investment front, discussions focused on linking the rapid growth of Umrah pilgrims and other visitors to the Two Holy Mosques with urban development needs in key cities, particularly Makkah and Madinah. Experts examined how seasonal and growing demand can be transformed into sustainable projects that align urban planning with the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program, part of Saudi Vision 2030.

A session titled 'Madinah as a Global Destination for Digital Travel Platforms' addressed ways to enhance Madinah's international standing as a smart destination within the Umrah and Ziyarah ecosystem. Discussions focused on improving the digital visitor experience before and during the journey, establishing Madinah as a fully integrated destination that meets the highest global standards.

The forum wraps up today after three days of discussions and engagement, bringing together experts and decision-makers to explore ways to develop the Umrah and Ziyarah ecosystem through innovation, technology, and strategic partnerships.

The insights generated aim to further cement Saudi Arabia's position as a global leader in serving Hajj pilgrims, Umrah performers, and visitors.
