The Deputy Prime Minister chairs the weekly Cabinet Meeting

Manama, The Deputy Prime Minister, HE Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, today chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace.

The Cabinet highlighted the importance of the meeting between His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK), The Rt Hon Sir Keir Starmer MP. The Cabinet noted the role of the meeting in consolidating bilateral relations and bolstering cooperation.

The Cabinet then followed up on implementing His Royal Highness’s directive to hold an induction day for parents and guardians across public schools for the new academic year. In this regard, the Cabinet wished students, teachers, and administrators a successful new academic year.

The Cabinet also extended its thanks to the companies, institutions, and shops that offered promotions on school supplies for the 2024-2025 academic year, which is part of the private sector’s contributions to society.

The Cabinet followed up on the preparations made by the Ministry of Interior to manage traffic flow around educational areas and ensure safe transportation for students, parents, and educational staff. The Cabinet also stressed the importance of the Ministry of Work’s road development projects, completed ahead of the school year, which will improve traffic conditions.

The Cabinet then congratulated the winners of the UNESCO King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education, highlighting the importance of this award in advancing educational projects globally and supporting UNESCO’s efforts in this area.

To mark the upcoming International Day of Charity, the Cabinet affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to adopt initiatives that enhance charitable work in society.

The Cabinet then discussed several memorandums during the meeting, approving the following:

1. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Social Services regarding the outcomes of the implementation of the mid
-day outdoor work ban during July and August 2024. The Cabinet commended the companies’ commitment to the decision while directing the extension of the mid-day outdoor work ban period to three months beginning in 2025, from 15 June to 15 September.

2. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law approving the Kingdom’s membership to the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties of 1969.

3. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law ratifying the framework agreement, along with the agency and guarantee agreements, between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Islamic Development Bank. These agreements facilitate the financing for the construction of the new 400-kilovolt Al Jasra station.

4. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on a draft law ratifying the agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Government of th
e Republic of Hungary to encourage and exchange investment protection.

5. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs regarding a resolution to issue the executive regulations of a decree law on the transfer and transplantation of human organs.

6. A memorandum submitted by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture regarding the acquisition of several properties for urban development, intended to serve public interest.

7. A memorandum submitted by the Ministerial Committee for Legal and Legislative Affairs on the government’s response to three proposals and six laws submitted by the Council of Representatives.

The Cabinet then reviewed a memorandum submitted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the topics included in the draft agenda for the 161st session of the Ministerial Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

The Cabinet then took note of the following ministerial reports:

1. Outcomes of the participation in the Tatar
stan Oil and Gas Conference.

2. Outcomes of the Kingdom’s participation in the discussion on the two additional protocols to the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

3. Outcomes of the participation in the first conference of the ad hoc group for the implementation of the third point of the Peace Formula “Energy Security”.

4. Outcomes of attending the launch of the Arab Strategy for Youth, Peace and Security.
