TGA Mandates Electronic Meter Use for All Taxis during Hajj Season

Riyadh: The Transport General Authority (TGA) has reaffirmed that all taxi operators in Makkah and Madinah must activate electronic meters for the entire duration of each trip during the 1446 AH Hajj season, in a move aimed at safeguarding the rights of pilgrims.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority emphasized that failing to activate the electronic meter before the start of a trip constitutes a violation and may result in a fine of up to SAR3,000.

In addition to meter usage, the TGA outlined mandatory compliance requirements for all licensed taxi operators. These include installing approved technical equipment, clearly displaying the vehicle’s official identity and taxi logo, offering electronic payment options, and providing printed receipts to passengers. The authority urged all operators to adhere strictly to these regulations.
