Hail: The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) and Hail Maternity and Children’s Hospital have launched a project aimed at increasing energy efficiency within the hospital’s buildings and facilities. The project aims to achieve an 18% reduction in energy consumption across eight buildings, aligning with the highest international standards and best practices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid Waleed Abdullah Al-Ghreri stated that the company conducted field surveys and technical studies on the hospital’s buildings and facilities. These studies underscored the importance of increasing energy efficiency and reducing consumption. The project focuses on implementing 10 key measures, which include upgrading control systems, air conditioning, and lighting. Specific enhancements include optimizing chiller controls, scheduling air handling units, installing variable frequency drives to regulate equipment speed, and enhancing the performance of cooling systems.
Additionally, Tarshid will replace conventional lighting with energy-efficient, high-performance LED systems and install occupancy sensors and smart motion detectors across the hospital’s facilities.
The project’s total annual electricity consumption is around 22 million kilowatt-hours. It is expected to drop to approximately 18 million kilowatt-hours annually after the completion of the retrofitting project. The initiative is projected to save the equivalent of over 6,000 barrels of oil and reduce more than 2,000 metric tons of harmful carbon emissions, comparable to the environmental impact of planting over 38,000 tree seedlings each year.
Tarshid works to serve the Kingdom’s strategic sustainability goals, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
