Syria’s OIC Membership Resumption Opens New Horizons for Cooperation

Riyadh: The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has welcomed the decision of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to resume Syrian Arab Republic’s membership, issued during the 20th Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC Member States in Jeddah. ICESCO welcomed the reactivation of relations between Syria and the OIC member states and the OIC agencies and institutions as per the decision.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in a statement on Monday, Director-General of ICESCO Salim AlMalik lauded the decision as an important step in enhancing cooperation among OIC member states and deepening fraternal ties between them. He emphasized that it opens new horizons for collaboration in various fields, especially education, science, and culture. AlMalik also highlighted the significance of the decision in promoting regional stability and upholding the commitment to shared Islamic values, while underscoring continued dedication to working together toward a better future.
