Mecca: STC Group has enhanced its technical and digital infrastructure in the holy sites to improve communications efficiency and enhance services provided to pilgrims during the Hajj season.

According to Saudi Press Agency, STC deployed 5G Flying Sites using advanced drone technologies as part of its infrastructure development efforts. This initiative aims to ensure continuity of digital services, accelerate response times, and provide rapid intervention to deliver network coverage when needed. The technology is designed to reduce network pressure and manage digital congestion while expanding coverage with high flexibility.

STC also introduced the 'New Calling' service, which offers real-time translation of voice calls between Arabic and English. Supported by integrated language models, this service allows callers to communicate in their native languages, with conversations translated instantly and accurately, facilitating communication for pilgrims from different nationalities.

To accommodate increased data traffic and operational demands, STC has established 90 maintenance centers across the holy sites. These centers are supported by over 550 qualified technicians stationed at key locations to ensure rapid response and immediate emergency handling around the clock.

The preparedness follows a series of readiness tests based on a precise data management strategy. This strategy aligns with international best practices and is supported by intelligent systems that use autonomous network monitoring solutions and advanced technologies to manage network loads and ensure service stability during peak periods.

In addition to its communications and logistical infrastructure, STC Group employed advanced digital solutions to support crowd movement management. Its subsidiary, IoT Squared, provided solutions based on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. These include a unified fleet management system that enables operators to monitor vehicle movement in real time and issue proactive alerts to efficiently address emergencies, contributing to improved traffic flow and operational efficiency in densely populated areas.
