Geneva: In line with the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting international efforts to enhance patient safety, the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) organized a side event on accelerating the Global Patient Safety Action Plan at the 78th World Health Assembly (WHA78).
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event, titled: “From Plan to Impact: Accelerating the Global Patient Safety Action Plan in a Risk-Prone World,” took place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, attracting over 200 health leaders, decision-makers, and representatives from international organizations.
The event highlighted strategies for expediting the implementation of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan 2021-2030. It focused on fostering collaboration among countries and organizations in light of escalating global health challenges and the increasing need for safer, more sustainable healthcare systems.
Co-sponsors of the event included the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, the Philippines, the Maldives, alongside the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the Global Patient Safety Leadership Group (GPSLG).
The event spotlighted success stories and national experiences in patient safety, while discussing capacity-building mechanisms and implementing pertinent, effective policies. It aimed to promote a culture of safety across all health sectors and accelerate the pace of the Global Patient Safety Action Plan’s implementation.
