Riyadh, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Sport and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), has won a seat on the Founding Council of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) with a majority of votes from the Asian continent.
He will hold this position for the period from 2024 to 2026, according to the decision issued by the WADA today.
The Founding Council of the WADA is considered the highest legislative authority within the agency.
It includes 21 members, representing government bodies from member countries, with approximately 12 of them being sport ministers.
Additionally, there are 21 members representing Olympic movements in member countries, including federation heads and members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Winning this seat is a testament to the significant position that the Saudi sports sector has currently reached on the international stage.
This is evident through the presence of several distinguished leaders in various international sports positions, confirming the exceptional qualitative leap the sector is experiencing and its attainment of leading global levels.
