Arar: The moon of Rabi Al-Awwal graced the skies of Arar and across Saudi Arabia at dawn today, reaching its last quarter phase.

According to Saudi Press Agency, astronomy and space club member Adnan Khalifa said the moon appeared at dawn with half its disk illuminated, a phase that occurs about a week after the full moon, when the Sun-Earth-Moon angle reaches 90 degrees. Rising near midnight, the moon remains visible through the morning before setting around midday.

Khalifa noted that this phase offers optimal conditions for observing lunar topography, as sunlight casts long shadows along the terminator-the dividing line between light and shadow-clearly revealing craters, ridges, and mountain ranges.
