Najran: Beekeepers in the Najran Region have successfully harvested Sidr tree blossoms, resulting in the production of nearly 20,000 kilograms of natural Sidr honey from the valleys and wadis last month.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Najran provides an ideal environment for beekeeping, owing to its suitable weather conditions, extensive agricultural areas, and a wide variety of flowering plants such as Sidr, Umbrella thorn acacia, and Vachellia flava. The region’s estimated annual honey production across all seasons is approximately 90 tons.
Beekeeper Naji Al-Sahili emphasized Najran’s excellence in honey production, noting that local beekeepers have won awards at regional and international honey competitions. These accolades highlight the unique taste and health benefits associated with Najran’s honey.
The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture has initiated efforts to support this thriving industry through the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program (Saudi Reef). A rural development incubator has been launched to aid entrepreneurs in beekeeping and honey production, focusing on enhancing skills in strategic planning, business management, marketing, and finance.
