Riyadh: Shura Council Assistant Speaker Hanan Al-Ahmadi met today with UN Women Executive Director Sima Sami Bahous at the council’s headquarters in Riyadh as part of Bahous’s official visit to the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Ahmadi welcomed Bahous and her delegation, noting that their visit aligns with the Kingdom’s progress in women’s empowerment. She also highlighted the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women’s (CSW) appointment of Saudi Arabia as chair of its 69th session this year, reflecting the Kingdom’s efforts in this area.

Al-Ahmadi emphasized the support from the Kingdom’s leadership, which has empowered Saudi women to take on leadership roles and contribute across various sectors. Additionally, she highlighted the Shura Council’s role in promoting women’s empowerment through its legislative and oversight responsibilities.
