SFD Supports Infrastructure Development in Oman’s Duqm Economic Zone

Duqm: Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) Chief Executive Sultan Al-Marshad, alongside Omani Minister of Economy Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al-Saqri and Omani Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones President Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Masoud Al Sunaidy, participated in the inauguration of two development projects aimed at enhancing road infrastructure in Oman’s economic zones.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the projects include the dualization of the main road leading to Ras Markaz in Duqm and the completion of the main dual carriageway No. (32) from the center of Duqm city to the south. Both projects are financed by the SFD through memoranda of understanding provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The two projects aim to improve and develop land transport services, enhance traffic flow within the boundaries of the Duqm Special Economic Zone, and accommodate increasing transport movement. They will facilitate access to the commercial port, refinery, and heavy and light industrial areas, as well as other public services and vital facilities, while easing the transport of goods and boosting trade and investment exchanges.

The Saudi participation comes within the framework of close and longstanding development relations spanning 48 years of sustainable cooperation and partnership between the SFD and Oman, supporting about 20 development projects and programs financed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the fund across vital and development sectors in various Omani regions.
