Today, Wednesday, the Jaafar family demolished their house in the Old City of Jerusalem, by a decision of the occupation municipality, under the pretext of building without a permit.
Jaafar's family explained that the municipality refused to postpone the demolition decision, and demanded that it implement it within a few days, otherwise its crews will do so, and the family must pay the "demolition fee" to the accompanying crews and forces.
Four people live in the house, with an area not exceeding 60 square meters. Despite the family's attempts for years to license the house, the municipality refused it.
In the town of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, the occupation municipality is calling on the Al-Qaq family to demolish their house with their own hands, without taking into account the health and psychological status of the family members.
The Al-Qaq family explained that they expanded their house in 2004, to provide housing for their children with special needs, but the municipality pursued the family until it issued the final demolition decision.
The family added that they received the demolition notice during their daughter's stay in the intensive care unit in the hospital, and less than a month ago, the girl died and the family was not spared from prosecution, as the municipality is demanding that the family implement the demolition decision, immediately, or else the municipality will carry out the demolition.
The family noted that 3 of their children have special needs, and the father recently underwent open-heart surgery.
During the last two months, the occupation municipality escalated the policy of "self-demolition", by forcing al-Maqdisi to demolish his facility with his own hands, and threatening him with financial fines if the demolition was not implemented and the specified period was not adhered to.
