Saudi Students Compete in Global Astronomy Olympiad

Hanoi:The Saudi astronomy and astrophysics team is taking part in the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA 2026), held in Hanoi, Vietnam, from September 25 to October 5. They join students from over 60 countries in this prestigious event. According to Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom's team comprises five students who have undergone rigorous preparation through specialized training programs and camps to ready themselves for the competition. Saudi Arabia began its participation in the Olympiad in 2024 and has since secured six international awards, including one silver medal, three bronze medals, and two certificates of appreciation. The Olympiad challenges participants with theoretical and practical tasks involving astronomy problems, celestial observations, data analysis, and simulation software.
