Saudi Football Enjoys Golden Run with Major Triumphs in 55 Days

Riyadh: Saudi football is currently enjoying an extraordinary period of success, with teams across all age groups achieving remarkable milestones within just 55 days. On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, the U-16 national team captured the 2025 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-17 Championship title, defeating Lebanon on penalties in the final held in Jordan.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the winning streak began on September 10, when the U-19 national team claimed the Gulf Cup U-20 Championship, overcoming Yemen 3-1 in the final. Less than a month later, the U-17 team added another trophy, securing the Gulf Cup U-17 Championship after a 2-0 victory over the UAE in the final.

Adding to this momentum, the Saudi national team sealed qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on October 14, marking their third consecutive and seventh overall appearance at the global tournament.

Looking ahead, Saudi football faces a series of exciting challenges amid growing optimism. The U-17 team will kick off its campaign at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 on November 5, competing in Group 12 alongside Austria, New Zealand, and Mali.

The national team is set to participate in the FIFA Arab Cup, to be hosted by Qatar in December, as part of its intensive preparations for the 2026 World Cup.
