Riyadh: Investment opportunities in the Kingdom's falconry sector are expanding amid growing institutional support from the National Center for Falcons, an increasing number of competitions and breeding farms, and rising demand for falcons. These developments are opening new opportunities for investors in a sector that combines the Kingdom's cultural heritage with promising economic prospects.
According to Saudi Press Agency, investor Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Jalban said his entry into the falconry sector followed a study of the available investment opportunities. He noted that the center's support and organizational efforts, together with the integration of falcon production with competitions, have enhanced the sector's investment appeal.
He explained that his investment began with the acquisition of a Canadian breeding farm with an established track record, followed by the establishment of his own farm in the Kingdom. His total investment in the sector, including production, purchases, and the acquisition of the Canadian farm, amounted to approximately SAR6 million.
What began as a personal hobby gradually developed into a business venture, he said. Al Jalban expressed confidence in the potential for Saudi falcon production to expand into international markets, despite the Kingdom remaining the world's strongest market for falcons. He stressed that quality is ultimately what determines a product's value in any market.
Al Jalban said his farm currently houses more than 100 falcons, with a focus on quality rather than quantity. He explained that the global investment benchmark typically targets recovering capital within approximately three years. However, he was able to recoup his initial investment within the first year, underscoring what he sees as the growing economic potential of the Kingdom's falconry sector.
