Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen Guided by Strategic Vision

Riyadh: Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) Assistant Supervisor General for Institutional Relations and Head of the Communication and International Cooperation Sector Abdullah bin Kadasa affirmed that SDRPY is guided by a strategic vision viewing development as a tool for stability and peace rather than merely a humanitarian response.

According to Saudi Press Agency, since SDRPY's establishment, it has unified Saudi developmental efforts in Yemen, ensuring project planning, implementation, and evaluation efficiency in coordination with the Yemeni government. His remarks were delivered at the session 'Transformations of the Yemeni Landscape: Opportunities for Stability and Fronts of Development,' held as part of the fifth annual Saudi Media Forum in Riyadh.

Bin Kadasa indicated that nearly two million Yemenis in Saudi Arabia transfer around $4 billion annually to Yemen, directly supporting its economy. He also noted that Saudi Arabia was the only country that continued issuing work visas even during times of conflict and the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting the fraternal relationship between the Kingdom and Yemen.

Regarding SDRPY's key projects and initiatives, he said, 'Since its launch, the SDRPY has implemented 268 developmental projects and initiatives, some completed and others ongoing. Its main achievements include benefiting millions of Yemenis, improving mobility between cities and regions, expanding educational opportunities, supporting universities and technical institutes in delivering their programs, providing healthcare services and awareness efficiently, promoting sustainable agriculture, enhancing renewable energy use, empowering women and youth economically, and strengthening community participation.'
