Riyadh: The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has confirmed that Saudi dates are a key pillar of food security in the Kingdom, with local production in 2024 exceeding 1.9 million tons. This reflects the abundance of domestic production, its capacity to meet local demand, and its surplus for export to many countries in the region and around the world.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry highlighted that the Kingdom has achieved 119% self-sufficiency in dates, strengthening its position as one of the largest producers and exporters of this strategic product.

Exports and re-exports amounted to approximately 351,000 tons, while imports did not exceed 952 tons, underscoring the high quality of Saudi dates and their ability to compete in global markets.
