Riyadh:On behalf of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will deliver the annual Royal Address today, marking the opening of the third year of the Shura Council's ninth session.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Speaker of the Shura Council, Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, expressed gratitude to the King and the Crown Prince for their support of the Shura Council. He emphasized the importance of the Royal Address as a guiding document for the council, outlining the state's priorities and directions, and reflecting the leadership's commitment to the council's role in national development.
The speaker noted that the Royal Address serves as a comprehensive national document that reviews Saudi Arabia's policies, aligns with its rapid development, and informs the council's legislative work. During the second year of the ninth session, the council held 46 sessions and issued 555 decisions, contributing to legislative development and performance improvement.
Over the past year, the council's committees conducted 376 meetings with 331 officials, enhancing the council's integration with government agencies. The council also engaged in 135 domestic and international parliamentary activities, strengthening diplomatic relations and cooperation with other parliaments.
The speaker highlighted Saudi Arabia's leadership role in the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, supported by the King and the Crown Prince, as a reflection of the Kingdom's commitment to Arab cooperation and dialogue. The Shura Council aims to support Saudi Arabia's development and represent its interests on regional and international platforms.
