Cairo: The League of Arab States (LAS) Council at the level of foreign ministers decided to appoint the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s candidate, Colonel Nasser bin Fahd Al-Subaie, as chairman of the Arab Expert Group on Counterterrorism for a period of two years.

According to Saudi Press Agency, at the conclusion of its 164th regular session, held on Thursday at LAS’s headquarters in Cairo, the council appointed the Qatari candidate, Ambassador Saad bin Mohammed Al-Tamimi, as chairman of the Standing Committee for Administrative and Financial Affairs for a period of two years. Additionally, Palestinian Ambassador Fayed Mustafa was appointed as assistant secretary-general of the LAS for a period of five years, starting from the date of assuming his duties.

The council also approved the renewal of the contracts for one year, under the same current terms, for the heads of LAS missions in Madrid, Berlin, Paris, Argentina, New Delhi, Moscow, and London, as well as the head of the LAS office in Somalia. Furthermore, it approved the contracting of Palestine’s candidate, Ambassador Ibrahim Al-Zaben, to head one of the vacant LAS missions or offices abroad, in accordance with the regulations in force at the General Secretariat, for a period of two years.
