Saudi Arabia’s Water Desalination Matches Global Oil Production, Says Water Authority Chairman.

Riyadh: Chairman of the Saudi Water Authority Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkareem has revealed that the Kingdom’s daily water desalination capacity has reached an impressive 15 million cubic meters, noting that this significant figure is equivalent to the world’s daily oil production.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during his participation at the Local Content Forum 2024, Eng. Al-Abdulkareem emphasized the rapid transformation of the Kingdom’s water sector in recent years. He highlighted the sector’s potential to position Saudi Arabia as a global leader in water solutions, especially in light of increasing water scarcity and climate change.

Eng. Al-Abdulkareem stressed the importance of collaboration between the public and private sectors in driving innovation and supporting local content. The Saudi Water Authority is actively working with the Local Content and Government Procurement Authority to foster partnerships, promote local manufacturing, and create new business opportunities in the water indu
stry.
