Saudi Arabia to Host IAACA Meeting in 2027 Following European Conference in Budapest

Budapest: Saudi Arabia's Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) President, Mazen Al-Kahmous, led the nation's delegation at the first European Regional Conference of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) in Budapest, Hungary. During the event, he showcased Saudi Arabia's strategic efforts to combat transnational corruption as part of its Vision 2030.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Kahmous highlighted Saudi Arabia's dedication to transparency, accountability, and international cooperation. He introduced the Kingdom's initiative aimed at objectively collecting data to measure corruption and called on the IAACA Executive Committee to endorse scientific tools for this purpose. He also commended Saudi Arabia's engagement in global initiatives, such as the GlobE Network.

In a significant development, the IAACA Executive Committee approved Saudi Arabia's proposal to host the IAACA meeting in 2027. This approval is seen as an international endorsement of Saudi Arabia's ongoing anti-corruption endeavors. The Budapest conference addressed several issues, including the impact of artificial intelligence on corruption, the creation of unified anti-corruption laws, and the necessity of cross-border information sharing.

Saudi Arabia's prominent role within the IAACA, including its election to the Executive Committee in February 2025, highlights its commitment to the United Nations Convention against Corruption. The IAACA, consisting of over 194 organizations worldwide, is dedicated to reducing bribery and corruption globally by 2030, through specialized training and international collaborations.
