Saudi Arabia Participates in GCC Cybersecurity Meeting, Approves Strategic Initiatives

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia, represented by the National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), participated in the fourth meeting of the GCC Ministerial Cybersecurity Committee, held in Kuwait. The meeting saw the involvement of heads of cybersecurity authorities from GCC countries and the GCC Secretariat General, with the Saudi delegation led by NCA Governor Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the committee approved the executive plan for the Gulf Cybersecurity Strategy 2024-2028. This plan sets the stage for implementing various initiatives aimed at bolstering cybersecurity measures at a regional level.

The meeting’s outcomes included the adoption of a framework for international cooperation among GCC states in the realm of cybersecurity. Additionally, the committee approved a governance mechanism for participation in the GCC cyber-threat information sharing platform, a system developed in collaboration with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE).

As part of the agenda, the committee reviewed several working papers submitted by member states, focusing on enhancing cybersecurity cooperation. The discussions emphasized the importance of continuing joint cyber exercises among GCC countries to boost preparedness and foster an exchange of expertise.
