Dammam: The Transport General Authority (TGA), in collaboration with relevant authorities, has launched a new truck access system for cities in the Eastern Region, effective Sunday, February 16. This initiative marks the third phase of the central city entry program across the Kingdom.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the new system allows trucks to enter the Eastern Region during restricted hours by booking electronic appointments at designated times, except for trucks already authorized to enter during these periods. This effort aims to maximize logistics efficiency, regulate truck flow, reduce congestion at city entrances, and enhance the overall quality and efficiency of transportation services, ultimately reinforcing the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub.

The initiative will enable freight transporters to navigate more efficiently during peak hours and restricted periods, reducing traffic congestion on major roads in the Eastern Region. It is expected to significantly decrease wait times for truck drivers, improve operational processes, and ease the burden on companies and private sector entities involved in freight transport. Additionally, the system aims to lower costs and enhance the quality of logistics operations.

The new service will also provide essential reports and data analysis to support decision-making and sector development, contributing to economic growth and minimizing financial losses for transporters.

The TGA emphasized that the truck entry appointment service will enhance integration and management of truck movements in the Kingdom, leveraging data and analytics to improve freight transport operations.

Transporters can access the service through the LOGISTI platform (logisti.sa), which offers a range of electronic services designed to facilitate transportation activities with greater ease and efficiency.
