Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has condemned in the strongest terms Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker Wedyan while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the Qatari tanker Al Rekayyat.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Kingdom's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday, emphasizing that these attacks are considered an assault on the security and safety of international navigation and global energy supplies. The statement underscored the grave violation of international law and norms, specifically highlighting the breach of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which guarantees freedom of navigation and the safe passage through maritime routes.
The Kingdom further reiterated its call for Iran to immediately cease all actions that threaten regional security, international maritime safety, and energy supplies. The statement concluded by affirming that Iran bears full responsibility for these attacks and the resulting damage and repercussions.
