Abidjan: The delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, headed by Saudi Arabia’s Governor at the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, Dr. Ryadh Alkhareif, concluded its participation in the Annual Meetings of the AfDB Group held from May 26 to May 31, 2025, in Abidjan, C´te d’Ivoire. Ministers of finance and economy, governors of central banks of member states, and representatives of regional and international development institutions attended the meeting.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the annual meetings witnessed the election of Mauritania’s Dr. Sidi Ould Tah as the new President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). They discussed current challenges on the continent and reviewed ways to effectively harness Africa’s potential-human, natural, financial, and trade-to support the development process. Additionally, they reviewed the operational and economic performance of the AfDB and the African Development Fund (ADF) for the past year, along with conducting several bilateral meetings.
The meetings were attended by several national entities, including the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), which affirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting development efforts on the African continent and strengthening international partnerships.
This major event, held over several days, served as a platform for discussing pressing economic and development issues facing the African continent.
