New York:Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi represented Saudi Arabia at the 'United for Water A Call for Collective Action' event.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the event was co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and Senegal, with participation from the Global Water Organization. It took place alongside the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
The event aimed to enhance water security and international cooperation on water challenges, focusing on themes such as resilience, the transition to implementation, and fostering collective action. Dr. Al-Rassi highlighted water's critical role in security and development and called for stronger governance and cooperation due to increasing water scarcity.
He noted Saudi Arabia's leadership in desalinated water production and its National Water Strategy 2030, which prioritizes water governance and technological innovation.
Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil, also attended the event.
