London: The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) awarded an honorary doctorate to Saudi Ambassador to the United Kingdom and president of the 33rd session of the Assembly of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz during a ceremony at the IMO headquarters in London.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the recognition comes in appreciation of Prince Khalid bin Bandar’s significant contributions to supporting the efforts and initiatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the maritime sector and his backing of the aspirations of Arab countries. It also acknowledges his role in promoting the sustainability of the maritime industry and his contributions to achieving the objectives of the IMO, in addition to his active leadership of the 33rd session of the IMO assembly, which constituted an important milestone in the progress of Arab and international maritime work.

Prince Khalid bin Bandar thanked the AASTMT for the honor, which he believes will encourage greater joint action to empower Arab countries in the maritime transport sector and strengthen their international presence. He stressed that the growth of this essential sector relies on continued cooperation and the exchange of expertise, ultimately supporting sustainable development and achieving maritime and logistical integration within the region.

The specialized educational institution AASTMT promotes leadership in the maritime sector and supports human capacity development in maritime and logistics transport through academic programs and regional cooperative initiatives.
