SAR Wins Two International Awards for Safety, Risk Management

Baku: Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has reinforced the institutional transformation it is leading in operational safety and risk management after winning two international awards in the fields of safety and risk management. The achievement reflects the company's adoption of an advanced model grounded in governance, operational intelligence, predictive analytics, and a culture of empowerment, thereby enhancing the reliability of the railway network and improving operational readiness in line with best global practices and standards.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the achievement was marked by SAR receiving the excellence in digital transformation of safety systems award from Safe365 and the Risk Team of the Year Award from the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM). SAR received the excellence in digital transformation of safety systems award in recognition of its efforts to develop an advanced digital framework for measuring and improving institutional safety culture. It was awarded the Risk Team of the Year Award for excellence in implementing risk management practices and enhancing operational safety through an integrated institutional approach.

These awards reflect a strategic path pursued by SAR in recent years to establish safety as a core pillar of its operational and governance framework by adopting an integrated institutional model that links executive leadership, data-driven analysis, operational intelligence, predictive analytics, and continuous improvement, contributing to enhanced operational readiness and strengthening the reliability of the railway network in accordance with global best practices.

As part of this approach, SAR has redefined the concept of safety within its operational framework, moving from a function focused on procedures and compliance to a deeply embedded institutional culture built on employee empowerment, shared responsibility, and linking safety to performance, sustainability, and operational quality.

This transformation included developing the operational governance framework, enhancing executive leadership's role in risk reviews and field visits, adopting advanced tools to measure safety culture and operational behaviors, and leveraging data and operational intelligence to support decision-making and improve risk management efficiency. As a result, SAR has built an advanced model aligned with modern global trends in railway safety.
