Riyadh: Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) will participate as a platinum sponsor of the Future Minerals Forum 2026, held under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh from January 13 to 15.
According to Saudi Press Agency, SAR operates the North Train Network, which spans over 1,550 kilometers and connects mining sites in the Northern Borders Region to Ras Al-Khair Port on the Arabian Gulf. Serving as the backbone of mineral transportation in the Kingdom, the network transports phosphate from the Hazm Al-Jalamid mine and bauxite ore from the Al-Baitha mine. It also handles hazardous industrial materials, such as phosphoric acid and molten sulfur, supporting strategic downstream industries.
SAR's operations also encompass the Jubail internal network, which further enhances connectivity between Jubail Industrial City and its ports. This network supports the integration of the industrial ecosystem and boosts the competitiveness of industrial transport and logistics services.
The mineral transport train, approximately 3 kilometers long with a capacity of up to 12,500 tons per trip, is one of SAR's most prominent strategic enablers. In 2025 alone, SAR transported more than 30 million tons of minerals and goods, reflecting its high operational capabilities and significant role in serving the mining sector on a national scale.
As part of its commitment to sustainability, SAR contributes to lowering carbon emissions and reducing reliance on heavy trucks. This shift alleviates traffic congestion and improves road infrastructure efficiency, affirming SAR's pivotal role in supporting sustainable transport solutions and achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
