SAR Declares Operational Readiness of Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro for Hajj 1447 AH

Najran: The Saudi Railway Company (SAR): announced the full operational readiness and actual commencement of the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Project to serve pilgrims during the 1447 AH Hajj season, reflecting the entire sector's preparedness to provide safe, highly reliable transportation for pilgrims.

According to Saudi Press Agency, SAR completed its extensive preparations in close coordination with relevant security and service agencies. To guarantee a secure and efficient start to the season, three comprehensive simulation exercises were conducted to accurately replicate peak Hajj conditions, rigorously testing the control systems, trains, and stations. The Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Project operates according to five distinct operational patterns, specifically designed to align seamlessly with the movement of pilgrims between the holy sites based on their prescribed rituals.

As a cornerstone of Hajj transportation, the metro network connects nine stations distributed across the holy sites of Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina. Notably, the final station in Mina extends directly to the fourth level of the Jamarat Bridge, significantly enhancing the smooth and safe flow of crowds. Following meticulous maintenance and rigorous testing of all facilities, SAR has ensured strict compliance with the highest global safety and quality standards.

The metro operates with a massive fleet of 17 trains, each capable of carrying up to 3,000 passengers, yielding a total transport capacity exceeding 72,000 passengers per hour. During the Hajj season, the metro project will execute over 2,000 trips, transporting more than two million passengers within a highly precise operational framework that drives efficient crowd management.

The operation of the Al Mashaaer Al Mugaddassah Metro Project is a vital component of the Kingdom's integrated efforts designed to serve pilgrims. By providing effective and reliable transportation solutions that reduce congestion and elevate safety, this infrastructure directly supports the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Pilgrim Experience Program, enabling pilgrims to perform their rituals with unparalleled ease and peace of mind.
