SANS, NERA, and CAAS Forge Strategic Partnership in Aviation Services

Singapore: Saudi Air Navigation Services (SANS) and NERA have formalized a memorandum of understanding with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to bolster their collaboration in air navigation services, focusing on technology, innovation, and aviation sustainability.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement is designed to enhance international cooperation and facilitate the exchange of expertise and knowledge. This move aims to boost operational efficiency and affirm the Kingdom's status as a leading global aviation hub.

The memorandum was signed during an official visit to Singapore by SANS CEO Eng. Abdulaziz bin Salem Al-Zaid, NERA CEO Eng. Khaled Attia, and CAAS Director-General Han Kok Juan. This agreement lays out a strategic framework for collaboration in developing and implementing joint initiatives in air navigation services, sustainability, and innovation.

The partnership is expected to support the efficient flow of air traffic between the Middle East and Asia, emphasizing the safe integration of advanced air mobility technologies and the development of unmanned aircraft traffic management. This MoU is particularly timely, given the anticipated growth in global passenger and air cargo traffic.

The agreement aligns with the objectives of the Kingdom's Aviation Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030. It aims to solidify the Kingdom's position as a global aviation hub, enhance the air transport system's efficiency, expand international partnerships, and promote innovation and knowledge exchange for sector growth and sustainability.

In practical terms, the MoU provides a framework for cooperation in strategic areas. These include developing regional air traffic management aligned with international standards, exploring interoperable navigation technologies, designing and maintaining systems, and establishing innovation laboratories.

Additionally, the agreement covers the exchange of best practices in air traffic management, organizational transformation, and human capital development to improve workforce efficiency. It also encourages cooperation in aviation sustainability through shared knowledge and initiatives to enhance operational performance.
