Abha: The Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) announced the launch of SalamAir’s first direct flight between Muscat city and Abha International Airport, a step aimed at strengthening the Kingdom’s regional air connectivity and improving ease of tourist access to the Aseer Region. Representatives of the STA, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Aseer Principality, Aseer Development Authority, and Abha International Airport received the inaugural flight on the new route.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the route launch forms part of the STA’s efforts, alongside its strategic partners, to enhance air connectivity to Saudi tourist destinations, supporting the Kingdom’s positioning as a regional and global tourism destination and contributing to the target of attracting 150 million visitors annually by 2030.
SalamAir will operate Muscat-Abha flights four times a week, offering flexible travel options and seamless connections through its expanding network via its main hub in Muscat, supporting both direct tourism travel and transit traffic from other regional markets.
