The Saudi Football Federation (SAFF) has added the 2008 Saudi national team as an extra team in the Saudi Premier League for under-17-year-olds (born in 2007). Starting from the 2024-2025 season, this team will be supervised by the technical and administrative staff of the youth team. This decision, resulting from a collaborative effort between the clubs, national team management, competitions, and technical departments, is a testament to the unity and shared vision of all involved. Players will be temporarily transferred from their clubs to foster camaraderie and take advantage of the age difference between those born in 2007 and 2008. This step will involve integrating the younger players with an older age group, ensuring that the results of their matches do not disrupt the points balance of the other participating teams. This project is part of the development plan for national team players in different age groups. It aims to develop technical, physical, fitness, and tactical aspects to achieve the best possible results in the least amount of time. Nasser Larguet, the technical director of SAFF, stated that this step is essential in preparing the national team and qualifying it for upcoming regional and international competitions and crucial in ensuring the preparation of a competitive generation in the years to come.
