Makkah: The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites has launched a socioeconomic survey of residents as part of the Urban Observatory’s ongoing efforts in Makkah. The survey, which will continue through October 2025, aims to support sustainable urban planning, improve quality of life, and enhance service efficiency.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the survey involves direct field interviews with a wide range of citizens and residents across various districts in Makkah. Interviews are being conducted daily in two shifts: from 10 am to 1 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm, in a way that respects the privacy and daily routines of residents.

The fieldwork is being conducted by a qualified team of trained male and female researchers, all of whom possess official identification cards issued by the commission. This approach is designed to foster community trust and ensure the credibility and reliability of the data collection process.

This project serves as a cornerstone for developing an accurate urban database that will help update Makkah’s information systems and produce socioeconomic indicators reflecting the actual conditions of the population. These indicators will support data-driven decision-making and guide priority public policies and development projects.

The commission emphasized that this initiative is part of a comprehensive vision to assess the urban reality of Makkah and align local efforts with the best international practices in urban planning and smart urban transformation, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
