The roads general authority is enhancing safety levels at public transport facilities through the saudi road code:he Roads General Authority is enhancing safety levels at public transport facilities through the Saudi Road Code, which establishes unified technical standards for the design and implementation of bus stations, contributing to a safer and more comfortable environment for passengers and improving the quality of infrastructure supporting the Kingdom's transport system.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority noted that the code includes requirements aimed at enhancing safety at bus stations, most notably designated drop-off areas near main entrances with appropriate lighting to improve passenger security, as well as separating vehicle movement from pedestrian routes through clearly marked curbs to improve safety.

The code also includes suitable waiting facilities that allow passengers to sit and remain protected from various weather conditions, and allocates sufficient, safe space for drop-off areas to ensure smooth movement and keep them free of obstacles. It also requires bus parking areas to be separated from truck parking areas, enhancing passenger safety and reducing interaction between heavy vehicles and public transport.

The authority stressed that these requirements are an extension of the Saudi Road Code's role in standardizing technical and operational standards across the Kingdom. The code covers all stages of the road life cycle, beginning with planning, design and construction and extending to operation and maintenance, ensuring the highest levels of quality, efficiency and safety.
