Riyadh: The Riyadh University of Arts (RUA), affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, has signed an agreement with the University of Southern California’s (USC) School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) to foster cultural and artistic talent and promote cultural exchange. The agreement was formalized during a ceremony at the Red Sea International Film Festival, with Deputy Minister of National Partnerships and Talent Development at the Ministry of Culture Noha Kattan representing RUA, and Associate Dean Alan Baker representing USC.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the collaboration involves the development of the curriculum and courses for the Bachelor’s and Diploma programs at RUA’s College of Film. Senior faculty and staff from USC’s School of Cinematic Arts will provide guidance to RUA students and design specialized training programs for new instructors in the MENA region and beyond. This initiative is part of RUA’s broader strategy to form international partnerships and enhance its academic offerings.
The USC Sch
ool of Cinematic Arts is renowned for its history and connections with the film industry, having produced many prominent filmmakers and storytellers. The school provides an interdisciplinary approach to learning, incorporating the latest technology and storytelling techniques across film, television, and interactive media.
The agreement with USC is part of a larger effort by Riyadh University of Arts to establish collaborations with global institutions to co-design academic programs, engage in research, and offer cultural education and development programs. RUA was announced at the Cultural Investment Conference in September 2025 as a key initiative in advancing creative education and cultural innovation in the Kingdom.
RUA aims to offer a comprehensive academic portfolio that supports continuous education in arts and culture, ranging from short courses to advanced degrees. Plans for RUA’s colleges and partnerships will be detailed on its official website, set to launch in early 2026.
