Riyadh International Book Fair Captivates Children with Seven Daily Theater Performances

Riyadh: The Riyadh International Book Fair 2025, organized by the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, is drawing young visitors with seven daily theater performances designed especially for children. The shows combine entertainment, education, and interactive storytelling in a lively atmosphere that sparks imagination and enriches the family’s cultural experience.

According to Saudi Press Agency, staged at the Children’s Theater every day from 3:00 p.m. for one hour, each play runs between 20 and 25 minutes and features specialized theater troupes focusing on children’s literature and performing arts.

Among the highlights is ‘Sinbad and Yasmina’s Journey to the Lost Treasure,’ an adventure across sea and desert which reveals that in the end, the real treasure is knowledge.

Another standout, ‘A Story We Don’t Know,’ invites children to participate in shaping the plot and deciding how the story ends.

The play ‘Badr Al-Budour and the Missing Letters’ blends music and symbolism to celebrate the Arabic language, following the heroine’s quest to recover lost letters that bring color and life back to the stage. Meanwhile, ‘Adventure in the Witch’s Book’ immerses children in a fantastical setting filled with music, movement, and visual effects inside a giant book-shaped set.

Other performances include ‘A Story with Farfour,’ which uses humor and puppet theater to teach lessons about friendship, self-confidence, and teamwork, and ‘Tales and the Memory Box,’ a sentimental drama blending Saudi heritage with expressive music and dance.

The daily lineup concludes with ‘The Desert Ship,’ an educational play introducing children to the camel’s historical and environmental significance in Saudi culture, combining play, performance, and discovery.

This theatrical program is part of the fair’s broader effort to cultivate a love of reading and the arts among children, offering a well-rounded cultural experience that nurtures imagination, knowledge, and creativity.
