Riyadh Governor to Open International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation

Riyadh:The Seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation will be inaugurated by Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz on Sunday, under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event will take place from October 11 to 13 at the InterContinental Riyadh Hotel.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Special Advisor to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Center for Disability Research, will chair the conference. The event aims to bring together leading scientists, researchers, and innovators from around the world to discuss groundbreaking technologies and scientific discoveries that could significantly enhance the lives of persons with disabilities.

The conference, themed "Daring Toward the Future," emphasizes a scientific approach that seeks to surpass current solutions, opening new horizons for research aimed at restoring human abilities and developing innovative technologies in areas such as vision, hearing, and mobility. It aims to translate scientific aspirations into practical applications that benefit individuals with disabilities.

During the event, the winners of the King Salman International Award for Disability Research will be honored. The award has drawn 770 nominations from 111 countries. Additionally, an artificial intelligence hackathon for persons with disabilities will take place, attracting over 2,250 participants from 918 teams worldwide, focused on creating innovative solutions for challenges faced by this community.

The conference will also reach out to the community through interactive evening sessions and workshops featuring influencers and specialists. These activities are designed to engage persons with disabilities and their families, addressing their daily challenges and raising public awareness about disability-related issues.

The event underscores the achievements of the King Salman Center for Disability Research in contributing to scientific and research progress, supported by its founders and partners. It highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing disability research and playing a leading role in shaping its future, both in keeping pace with global scientific advancements and contributing to them.
