Ring-Necked Dove: A Symbol of Jazan’s Thriving Biodiversity

Jazan: The ring-necked dove is found across a variety of natural and agricultural habitats in Jazan Region, benefiting from the region's diverse ecosystems and reflecting its rich biodiversity. One of the most widespread dove species in open and agricultural environments, it is distinguished by a black ring around the back of its neck and grayish-brown plumage. It feeds on grains and seeds and can be seen in trees, farms, gardens, and parks.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Jazan Region's location overlooking the Red Sea, combined with its diverse terrain of coasts, islands, plains, valleys, and highlands, has created suitable habitats for numerous bird species, supporting wildlife and enhancing the region's biodiversity. Efforts to protect the environment and preserve vegetation cover support the sustainability of natural resources and biodiversity in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
