RGA Receives ISO 9001 Certification for Road Maintenance

Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has obtained ISO 9001 certification in its Quality Management System for road maintenance. This recognition stems from its efforts to enhance service efficiency in road, bridge, and related infrastructure maintenance.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the RGA achieved this milestone by implementing international and local quality standards, ensuring consistent performance, and meeting the needs of road users in rural areas.

Additionally, this certification also ensures the application of global best practices in road quality and safety, highlighting the authority’s dedication to improving the road user experience.

The authority’s advanced survey fleet, equipped with AI capabilities, played a crucial role in reaching this milestone. This includes using various equipment, such as drones, to assess road surface damage. Additionally, the authority utilizes ground paint measurement technology to gauge paint quality efficiently.

The RGA underscored that these efforts have contributed to significant advancements in Saudi Arabia’s road infrastructure. This is evidenced by the Kingdom’s improved ranking in the World Economic Forum’s road infrastructure quality index, reaching 5.7. This achievement positioned Saudi Arabia fourth globally among G20 nations, placed it first in the Road Connectivity Index globally, and ranked first in the Arab world in using rumble strip technology.

These achievements mark a substantial step towards attaining top global rankings in the road quality index, contributing to an enhanced quality of life and the realization of objectives within the road sector strategy.
