Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has confirmed the readiness of the road network in Northern Borders Region to receive pilgrims for the Hajj season 1446 AH, ensuring their safe and smooth arrival while enhancing their travel experience and supporting the seamless performance of their rituals.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the authority stated that the road network in Northern Borders Region has undergone extensive improvements along a total length of 400 kilometers. This includes scraping and resurfacing over 300 kilometers to boost road efficiency, maintenance work on more than 40 kilometers of the New Arar Road, and the surveying and rehabilitation of over 10 bridges in line with the highest quality and safety standards. These efforts aim to improve traffic flow, raise road quality, and ensure the safety and comfort of pilgrims during their journey.

The RGA also reiterated its commitment to implementing key projects and initiatives that elevate the road sector in line with the Kingdom’s strategic objectives. These include achieving sixth place globally in the Road Quality Index by 2030, reducing the road fatality rate to fewer than five cases per 100,000 people, meeting traffic safety standards aligned with the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP), and enhancing the overall capacity and resilience of the road network.
