Red Sea Global Celebrates Successful Conclusion of Second Red Sea Sailing Race

Red sea: Red Sea Global (RSG) has concluded the second edition of the ‘Red Sea Sailing Race’ after two days filled with traditional competitions and festive atmospheres along the shores of Turtle Bay at The Red Sea destination. The closing ceremony was attended by several company leaders and partners.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this year’s edition was themed ‘Hoist the Sail,’ inspired by the symbolic significance of the sail in the region’s cultural memory, an emblem of perseverance, livelihood, and civilizational connection. The Red Sea waters witnessed enthusiastic competitions with the participation of 14 traditional boats in the main race and five boats in the youth category. A total of 95 sailors from the region competed, delivering exceptional performances that highlighted their skills in traditional sailing, amid a large public and media presence that reflects the growing momentum of sports events at the destination.

Turtle Bay Beach transformed into a joyful community carnival, where families and residents of the Red Sea regions gathered to enjoy diverse activities spread across the venue, accompanied by performances from traditional folk bands that revived the heritage of the region and blended the thrill of competition with the spirit of history.

Commenting on the event, Chief Administrative Officer and Official Spokesperson of RSG Eng. Ahmad Darwish said: ‘We are proud to conclude this exceptional edition of a race that has become an annual icon through which we celebrate the timeless relationship between the people of this region and the sea. The theme ‘Hoist the Sail’ is not merely a call to start the race-it’s an invitation to draw inspiration from our rich cultural heritage and to empower the people of the Red Sea region to be at the heart of an event that shares our inspiring stories with the world.’

He added: ‘The strong media presence, along with the remarkable community interaction from families and visitors, reaffirms the prominent position The Red Sea destination now occupies as a promising global platform for marine sports. This directly supports Saudi Arabia’s objectives in strengthening its place on the international tourism and sports map.’

The release also highlighted that at the end of the competitions, winners in all categories were honored, along with partners and teams whose efforts turned the event into a fully integrated cultural festival. Red Sea Global reaffirmed its commitment to elevating this event each year, making it a key attraction for enthusiasts of marine sports and coastal culture.

The Red Sea destination continues to cement its position as one of the leading regenerative tourism destinations. Since opening to visitors in 2023, it has welcomed guests to a selection of luxury resorts and is served by the Red Sea International Airport, which connects the destination to multiple cities. The company is progressing toward completing Phase One, which will include 50 resorts, luxury marinas, golf courses, and various leisure and wellness facilities, creating an exceptional destination for people and nature.
