Red Sea Festival Signs Landmark Agreement to Support Saudi Talent in Animation

Jeddah: The Red Sea International Film Festival announced the launch of a strategic partnership with CITIA, the organization that oversees the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, with the aim of supporting the animation industry in the Kingdom and strengthening its global presence.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in Jeddah by Red Sea Film Foundation chief executive Faisal Baltyuor, and CITIA chief executive Micka«l Marin. The renewable three-year partnership aims to develop Saudi talent and expand opportunities for international collaboration through participation in the international animation film market and to create avenues for professional networking and knowledge exchange.

The MoU includes presenting an annual program at Al-Balad cultural district in Historic Jeddah showcasing selections from the Annecy Festival, in addition to workshops and activities designed for children and families. Beginning in 2026, the initiatives will include establishing a specialized animation committee within the Red Sea Souk, implementing training workshops, launching student and professional exchange programs in collaboration with CITIA’s professional development ecosystem, and exploring joint programs for production, talent development, and facilitating access to international markets.
