Rainfed Agriculture Strengthens Food Security in Qassim

Qassim: Rainfed agriculture is a key feature of Qassim Region, contributing significantly to local production while supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals of sustainability and efficient resource use.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the sector has advanced through the adoption of modern technologies alongside traditional practices, preserving agricultural heritage while improving productivity. In an interview with the Saudi Press Agency, Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Qassim, Salman Al-Suwainie, highlighted the widespread presence of rainfed farms in the region. He noted that more than 500 farmers are engaged in this form of agriculture, with wheat as the primary crop, highly valued for its quality and strong market demand.

He emphasized that this approach effectively uses rainwater, with the ministry providing ongoing guidance and support to farmers. Rooted in experience and strengthened by innovation, rainfed agriculture continues to play an important role in enhancing food security and sustainability in the Kingdom.
