Madinah: The humanization projects in Madinah provide an engaging urban environment that allows residents and visitors to enjoy a unique urban experience. The initiatives enhance quality of life and connect the community with its rich heritage and vibrant present. One of the standout projects is the walking trail linking the Prophet’s Mosque to Quba Mosque.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this pedestrian track serves as part of programs aimed to develop facilities and infrastructure, as well as to humanize the roads and squares in Madinah. Thousands of individuals traverse this route daily as they move between Quba Mosque and its expansive surroundings towards the Prophet’s Mosque in the heart of the city, passing through a premier commercial area embracing food outlets, shops, and cafes enjoyed by both residents and visitors.
Quba Mosque holds special significance as the first mosque built after the Prophet Muhammad’s Hijrah to Madinah. Its historical importance is deeply connected to the Prophetic biography and resonates in the hearts of Muslims. Currently, it is undergoing development as part of the ‘King Salman bin Abdulaziz project to expand Quba Mosque and its surroundings.’ The initiative aims to increase the mosque’s capacity from 15,000 to 66,000 worshippers, while also creating expansive areas around the mosque to form a vibrant urban space that remains active around the clock.
