Qassim: Qassim University President Dr. Mohammed bin Fahad Al-Sharekh inaugurated the ‘Handicrafts in the Era of Digital Transformation: Opportunities and Challenges’ conference at the King Abdulaziz Convention Center on the university campus. The event is organized by the College of Arts and Design.
According to Saudi Press Agency, College of Arts and Design Dean Dr. Dalal Alotaibi highlighted the conference’s objectives, which are aligned with the Year of Handicrafts 2025. The focus is on showcasing the cultural and economic dimensions of handicrafts, their role in preserving national identity, and supporting scientific research.
Dr. Alotaibi also noted Saudi Arabia’s continuous efforts to support handicrafts and artisans. This support includes the establishment of relevant authorities, institutions, and associations, as well as the organization of exhibitions and events, all backed by the Kingdom’s leadership.
The two-day conference features academic sessions on topics such as handicrafts and artificial intelligence, modern technology enhancing production, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises for sustainable growth, digital marketing, and the role of business incubators in artisan support.
Additionally, the conference includes practical workshops focused on developing handicraft skills and preserving these professions amidst the challenges of digital transformation.
