Prophet’s Mosque Deploys Over 25,000 RFID-Equipped Rugs for Enhanced Care

Medina: The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque is focusing on enhancing the experience for worshippers by deploying over 25,000 specially crafted rugs throughout the Prophet’s Mosque. These rugs are strategically placed with more than 14,000 in the courtyards, 6,150 in the corridors, and 5,500 on the roof.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the rugs are notable for their 16-millimeter thickness and a weave density of 575,000 knots per square meter, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and long-lasting color durability. Each rug features an RFID electronic chip, which facilitates the tracking of its data, including location, manufacturing date, washing schedule, and movement within the mosque and its courtyards. This technological integration aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve the quality of services offered at the mosque.

The initiative underscores the authority’s dedication to creating a safe and spiritually fulfilling environment for both worshippers and visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque.
