Riyadh: Acting Director-General of Prisons Major General Dr. Fahd Al-Osaimi presented a working paper on smart correctional centers during the panel discussions organized by the Ministry of Interior at the World Defense Show 2026, held from February 8 to 12 in Riyadh. Major General Al-Osaimi highlighted the General Directorate of Prisons' commitment to rehabilitation and reform, focusing on enabling inmates to access electronic services, virtual visits for family support, smart translation services, and streamlined procedures, all aligned with global standards for data protection and cybersecurity.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Major General Al-Osaimi discussed the integration of artificial intelligence applications and smart solutions to review inmates' cases, analyze behavior, and enhance occupational safety. These technologies aim to provide staff with timely information, allowing them to perform their duties effectively within the correctional facilities.
He further mentioned that the General Directorate of Prisons is adapting to technological advancements by developing skills in data analysis, decision-making, and communication. The focus is on enhancing behavioral and human skills such as case management, early intervention, and awareness of cybersecurity and information protection.
