The prince mohammed bin salman project for the development of historical mosques has completed the restoration of the sadreed mosque in al-namas: The Prince Mohammed bin Salman Project for the Development of Historical Mosques recently completed the restoration of the Sadreed Mosque, located in the Al-Namas area of the Aseer Region. This mosque, which dates back to 170 AH (786 AD) during the reign of Abbasid Caliph Harun al-Rashid, has been a significant religious site in the region for over 1,200 years.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the restoration project focused on preserving the mosque's authentic Aseer architectural identity. This included maintaining the original stone and mud walls and the roof made from local juniper trunks. The restoration ensures that the mosque remains true to its historical roots while being prepared for modern use.
The Sadreed Mosque historically served as the only Friday prayer mosque in the area. Its restoration will allow it to continue serving as a place of worship and a cultural center. The project employed specialized Saudi engineers and adhered to sustainable heritage standards. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to protect the Kingdom's cultural heritage while adapting historical sites for contemporary worshippers.
